Brand history
Established in the 1870s, Delacre was first known for its Belgian chocolate. Thanks to Charles Delacre’s use of only the finest ingredients the company's reputation led to an appointment as purveyor to the Belgian Royal House in 1879 and again in November 2005.
In the 1890s the Maitres Patissiers of Delacre applied their ‘Savoir Faire’ to making fine biscuits covered with their own rich chocolate. Soon their biscuits became so popular, Delacre began to produce them exclusively, with the same demanding quality standards that made their chocolate famous.
Acquired by UB in 1998, the Delacre brand has quickly gained a reputation as a specialist in adult biscuits though impactful communication on its core biscuits and recent innovative launches (for example, Fou de Chocolat in October 2002). Today’s Maitres Patissiers Delacre keep using their inventiveness to create new indulgent chocolate biscuits that even younger consumer praise.
